How to Obtain a Real Estate License
Real Estate Licensing Requirements - California
Effective October 1, 2007 an applicant for a California Real Estate Salesperson's
license must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete 135 hours of training in Real Estate Principles, Practice and one Elective
- Pass the California Department of Real Estate Salesperson's exam
A salesperson is licensed to act on behalf of a broker, and may not act as a real estate agent independently. A salesperson may only work for one broker in California at a time.
California does not require an applicant for a salesperson's license to have a high school diploma or college degree. There is also no state residency requirement.
Real Estate Education Requirements:
Your required education is comprised of 45 hours of California Real Estate Principles, 45 hours of California Real Estate Practice and 45 hours of an Elective (DRES has chosen Appraisal).
Upon completion of each subject, you must pass an online "open book" final exam.
Your completion certificate will then be issued to you. You must complete the required educational requirements prior to taking the California Real Estate State Exam.
You may have many questions about getting started as a
Real Estate Salesperson such as:
- How much will this new business cost to get started?
- What tools, systems and recourses does Dilbeck Realtors provide to assist in starting your career?
- What are my chances of success as a Real Estate Professional
